Movie Makeup Monday: "Despicable Me"-Inspired Eye Makeup Tutorial

I have been really wanting to see "Despicable Me" in 3-D this week (yes, I'm 21 years old, but I really like Disney/Pixar movies! haha), but have to wait until the weekend. This film has inspired me to do an eye makeup tutorial, which is primarily blue like those cute little minions' costumes, which you can see below.

I made this little guy, Mixer (for Mix and Match Makeup - get it?) on the "Minion Maker" which is here, so check it out!

This is a more muted version of the look, which you can wear during the daytime.

Here's the look:
- Remember to prime your lid with eye shadow primers such as Urban Decay Primer Potion (review here), or LORAC Behind the Scenes Eye Primer (review here).
- Apply NYX Eyeliner Pencil in Pearl White (review here) around your tear duct.
- Apply any black eyeliner to your waterline. I love Urban Decay's liner in Zero, since it really stays put for a longggg time!
- Apply Urban Decay eyeshadow in Shattered to your lid. Blend away any harsh lines. Also apply Shattered to your lower lash line.
- Apply a highlight color to your brow bone, such as Urban Decay eyeshadow in Polyester Bride.

I will definitely be wearing this look when I finally go see the movie... I'll be so cool in my 3-D glasses! (just kidding!) ;)

Hope you all are having a great week so far! Stay tuned for more reviews! xoxo

"Twilight: Eclipse" Premiere: Kristen Stewart

Since "Twilight: Eclipse" was such a huge hit in the box office, I decided to stick with another Twilight-inspired look although I have yet to see the movie. Instead of focusing on Bella Swan again, I wanted to do a look based on her alter-ego, Kristen Stewart.

Kristen Stewart's makeup looked gorgeous in one of the premiere pictures, which you can see here. She looks very bronze, and a lot of attention is drawn to her eye makeup, which is very smokey and glittery.

Here are the steps i would take and the products I would use to recreate Kristen Stewart's red carpet look:

Eyes:
- Always remember to prime your lid! Use a primer such as Urban Decay Primer Potion or Lorac Behind the Scenes Eye Primer
- Shadow:
1. Apply "Woodwinked", a brown/bronze color, by MAC all over the lid.
2. Apply Urban Decay eye shadow in "Zero", a matte black color, in the outer crease. Blend outward to get a "cat eye" effect.
3. Apply "Rice Paper", a slight shimmery nude color, by MAC on the brow bone as a highlight. If "Rice Paper" does not match your skin tone, be sure to apply a color that does.

- Liner: Line eyes with Urban Decay liner in "Zero" on the top lash line, bottom lash line, and in the waterline. Be sure to blend the top lash liner and bottom lash liner out, so that the line isn't too harsh. The idea is to get a smokey effect by doing this.

Face: Be sure to apply your concealer, foundation and powder as you normally do.

- Bronzer: Apply your favorite bronzer to your cheeks. Any bronzer will do. My favorite is "Laguna" by Nars. It gives a hint of shimmer, which results in a dewy glow.

- Blush: Apply your favorite blush to the apples of your cheeks. My favorite is
"Orgasm" by Nars. It's a peachy-pink color, which gives a really subtle, angelic glow.

Lips:
- Lip gloss: Apply a really light and shimmery color to your lips, which mimics your own lip color. A color that I recommend to use is "Orgasm" lip gloss by Nars, which you can purchase by clicking here. It is peachy-pink like Kristen's lip gloss, and has flecks of gold shimmer, which looks flattering on all lip colors.

The Start of... Movie Makeup Monday!

So as you can see, today is the start of "Movie Makeup Monday"!!!
What is "Movie Makeup Monday" exactly? It's the day each week that I pick either a movie, a character from a movie, or a picture from a movie that either I would like to recreate or inspires a makeup look. The movie that I will pick each week will be new in theaters. Don't be afraid to request a movie by sending it to my email! :)

I decided to start "Movie Makeup Monday" by featuring a new movie that a ton of people are looking forward to... Twilight: Eclipse. Though I'm not a Twilight fan, (sorry everyone!) I figured I would pick a look from this film since it is so popular. I picked the look of Bella on the movie's poster, which can be found here. As you can see, Kristen Stewart's look is pretty natural, with a darker lip.

These are the products that I would use to recreate Bella's look:

Eyes:
- Always remember to prime your lid! (Review on my favorite primer coming tomorrow!)
- Shadow: Apply "Naked Lunch" by mac all over lid. Apply "Rice Paper" to the inner corners of the eye, and on the brow bone as a highlight color.
- Eyeliner: It doesn't look like she is wearing eyeliner, but if you would like to add some, I recommend using brown liner on your waterline, since it won't be too dramatic.
- Mascara: Apply any mascara you prefer. My favorite is Urban Decay Skyscraper Multi- Benefit Mascara. (Check out my review of this product here)

Face: Be sure to apply concealer, foundation, and powder as you normally do.
- Blush: Bella looks pretty pale, with the exception of a little blush. I recommend using NARS blush in "Orgasm", which adds a pretty flush of color. If you don't have it on hand, be sure to use a pinky-peachy blush.

Lips:
- Lip gloss: Bella's lips are definitely the focus of her makeup. to get a dark, vampy lip like Bella's, use plum-colored glosses. MAC's "Utterly Discrete" can do the trick, but any plum colored gloss will do.

I hope you enjoyed the first "Movie Makeup Monday"! Please let me know if you have any suggestions for upcoming posts by emailing me at mixandmatchmakeup@yahoo.com! xoxo
